I work with children and young people aged 4 – 19 years who would benefit from support to develop their communication skills. This includes children who have Developmental Language Disorder, Autism Spectrum Condition and/or Learning Disabilities. I also provide advice and support to settings (e.g. schools) about how to make the environment more inclusive and accessible for your child.
Sessions can take place in your child’s home, school, college or other suitable environment. To help your child engage and get the most out of their experience I will aim to include your child’s interests in activities and will generally use play, games and practical tasks to teach new skills.
I am based in Maidstone and am happy to travel to surrounding areas. (Please see note on travel below).
Initial Assessment: £180
Your first appointment will usually last 60-90 minutes. During this time I may observe or play with your child, ask them to complete tasks (such as picture naming), and talk to you about your child. I will then write a report which summarises what was found in the assessment.
Therapy Session: £60
After your child has had an initial assessment we can discuss whether they would benefit from therapy. A typical therapy session lasts around 45 minutes. This usually contains a mixture of working directly with your child and discussing with others (e.g. teaching assistant) how to support your child during everyday situations.
Additional Support: £60 per hour.
Additional support may include attending meetings (e.g. annual reviews), making personalised resources (e.g. communication books) or preparing/delivering training.
There is a charge of £2 per mile for travel over 20 miles for a return journey (10 miles each way) from my base in Maidstone.
